Bettie grew up in Indianapolis before moving to New Washington where at the age of 13 she met her true love Melvin Forsee. She was a retired supervisor for the Department of Commerce. Bettie enjoyed sewing, reading, playing the piano and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Bettie was a native of Louisville, KY.
She is survived by her daughters Mendy J. Yost (Dale) of Jeffersonville, IN., LeeAnn Hughes (Chuck) of Jeffersonville, IN.; son Michael J. Forsee (Kendra) of Evanston, IL.; brother Jack P. Strange of Jeffersonville, IN.; grandchildren Charles Hughes (Jena), Sarah Smith (Cory), Nicholas Hughes, Brittany Chmiel (Dave), Kelsey VanBussom (Phil), and Kari Forsee (Tony); great-grandchildren Brandon Hughes, Keyra Smith, Rylee Medina, Hadley Chmiel, Sloane Chmiel, Eloise VanBussom, Evan and Austin Iweagwu.
Bettie was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Forsee; father Oscar Strange; mother Trixie Strange; brother William Strange; sister Shirley Hicks; and her granddaughter Aleesa Forsee.
Funeral service will be held Friday, October 4, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at E.M. Coots’ Sons Funeral Home with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
