Early Life: Alan was born November 7, 1949, in Provo, Utah, son of Garth Sanford and Naomi Marie Miller Taylor. In his early childhood, he loved to hunt and fish with his father. He graduated from Orem High School and Seminary in 1968.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Alan served as a missionary in the England Central Mission from 1969 to 1971. He married Helen Styne, of Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England in January 1972. He served as a bishop, bishopric counselor, Young Men president, Sunday School president, high priests group leader, Primary teacher, on the stake high council, and in other callings. Alan continued the traditions of hunting and fishing that he shared with his father, with his son, Troy. He also enjoyed auto mechanics, welding, antique automobiles, and going four-wheeling at the sand dunes many times with the Young Men. While living in Provo, Utah, he worked as a salesman for Lewis Brothers Stages, Pearson Tire, and J. W. Brewer Tires. He later served on the Board of Directors for Intermountain Retreaders in Salt Lake City. Alan loved people and kept in touch with his friends and relatives, often sending messages of encouragement, inspiration, and love. He was fun-loving, kind, compassionate, accepting, and had a zeal for missionary work. He had countless friends, who will remember his gestures of goodwill and his unwavering testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Alan Garth Taylor, residing in Hartsel, Colorado since 2017, passed away at his home Friday, September 27, 2019. He was 69.
Survived By: His wife, Helen Taylor, Hartsel, CO; son, Troy Taylor,Hartsel, CO; grandson, Cody Taylor, Grand Junction, CO; brothers: Glen (Elizabeth) Taylor, Deseret, UT; and Jerry (Karen) Taylor, Elk Ridge, UT; sister, Janet Moore, Glendale, AZ; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Bill) Van Slyke, Deer Park, WA; Muriel (Alan) Crane, Brecon, Wales, UK; and Virginia Taylor, Payson, UT; thirteen nieces and nine nephews.
Preceded In Death By: His daughter, Codie Taylor; his parents, Garth and Naomi Taylor; his parents-in-law, George and Margaret Styne; a brother, Larry K. Taylor; and nephew, Russell Moore.
