He was born in Bedford on Sept. 28, 1946, to Wayne L. and Alene Beegle Surrena.
Ed was a 1964 graduate of Grove City High School. He began his career at Bashline Company and then moved on to the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, retiring after 25 years of service.
Ed was a member of the Brady Paul Lodge #54 and a member of the National Guard for approximately six years. Ed was a longtime member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Mercer.
He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter with a deep appreciation for classic cars (especially his 1965 red GTO). Ed was a Pittsburgh sports enthusiast.
Ed is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ann Robinson Surrena; one daughter: Amy Surrena and her fiancé Jimmy Miller of St. Joe, Ind.; one son: Jason Surrena and his wife Cassandra of Philadelphia; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.
