Dorothy E. Stuhr, age 93, former Mishicot resident, currently a resident of the Wisteria Haus, of Two Rivers, entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Aurora Medical Center, of Two Rivers.

Dorothy was born December 6, 1918 in Cleveland, WI to the late Edward and Louise (Jaehnig) Sixel. She was a graduate of the Marathon High School and attended Ripon College, UW Stevens Point and graduated from UW Oshkosh with a BS degree in education. Dorothy married Harold William Stuhr on November 13, 1944 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in th town of Hamburg, in Marathon County, and he preceded her in death November 10, 1986. She taught in Marathon County for 6 years. Dorothy and Harold moved to Mishicot in 1951 where she taught for the Mishicot School District for 29 years at Schultz Elementary School.

Dorothy was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, and also belonged to the WRTEA, MCREA, and the Ladie's Bible Hour of the church. She enjoyed crafts of plastic canvas, playing cards, and bingo. She also enjoyed traveling around to various states and Europe during her retirement.

She is survived by her son, Edward (Barbara) Stuhr, of Two Rivers, two grandchildren, Kristin (Joel) Stuhr-Mootz, of West Allis, and Daniel Stuhr, of Mishicot, two great-grandchildren, Ashlyn and Nathan Mootz, and is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Leona (Herbert) Wachholz, of Friendship, WI, Mildred Ermis, of Milwaukee, WI, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine (Cliff) Karrels.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, with the Reverend Robert Johannes officiating, with entombment to follow in the Knollwood Mausoleum Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends after 9:00am on Thursday at the church, until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. There will be no Wednesday evening visitation. Dorothy's family would like to express a very special thank you to the entire staff of the Wisteria Haus, of Two Rivers for the excellent care, and compassion provided to Dorothy for the past nine years. Your kindness will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the St.Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund of Mishicot. The Lambert- Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting the family with funeral arrangments.
