(1934 - 2017)

LaVerne M. Tuma, of 309 North Packer Drive, Village of Francis Creek, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, surrounded by her loving family.

LaVerne was born on March 12, 1934, in Francis Creek, daughter of the late Charles and Mathilda (Ahl) Hassemer. She was a graduate of the class of 1952 from Mishicot High School. LaVerne married James W. Tuma on September 25, 1954 at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. LaVerne worked for Sears Surplus Store and Kirby Vacuum Store. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, dedicating 54 years of her life as the parish organist, VFW Auxiliary Post #7753, St. Anne Christian Mothers, St. Anne Choir and Francis Creek Senior Center. LaVerne enjoyed her garden, traveling, crafts, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved to play the Stumpf Fiddle. LaVerne loved to cook and was a wonderful hostess for many events.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years: James Tuma, Francis Creek; her four children and their spouses: Bob (Chris) Tuma, Francis Creek, and their children: Scott Tuma and Ryan (Nicole) Tuma; Deb (Mike) Spevacek, Mishicot, and their children: Nick (Claudia) Marek, Lisa Marek and special friend Brad and Matt Spevacek (Nicole Meissner); John (Sara) Tuma, Francis Creek, and their children: Preston Tuma and special friend America, Sam (Hannah) Tuma, Lauren Tuma and special friend Tyler, Tori Pekala, Alex Pekala, Julia Tuma, Lydia Tuma and Sophia Tuma; Dave (Holly) Tuma, Birnamwood, and their children: Abby Tuma and special friend Zach, Dylan Payne and Drew Payne; ten great-grandchildren: Kylie, Jonny, Mac, Frankie, Sabine, Dusty, Will, Adalyn, Stella and Henry; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Milton (Anna) Hassemer, Francis Creek; Jean Hassemer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include: Richard (Janet) Tuma; Gregory (Bobbi) Tuma; Peter (Nancy) Tuma; Paul (Joy) Tuma; JoAnn (Gale) Fenlon; Janice Bredemann, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Mathilda Hassemer; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Ralph Hassemer; Harold (LaVerne) Hassemer; four brothers-in-law: Donald Tuma; Wayne Tuma; Donald Luckow; Delvan Bredemann.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. Rev. Jeffrey J. Briones will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home in Kellnersville is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jensreinboldandpfeffer.com
