Mrs. Esther Beneverly “Bennie” Davis Carmichael, age 66, of Locust Grove, GA passed away August 9, 2009. Bennie was born in Henry County the daughter of the late Ethel Florence Crumbley and Benjamin Franklin Davis.
Bennie was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church where she served in all areas of the church and was woman of the year in 2004 for her hard work in the church. She graduated from Henry County High School Class of ‘1961’. She and her late husband Melvin Carmichael purchased and operated Zack’s Grocery Store in McDonough. Bennie was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed traveling, tennis, shopping, flower arranging, her Jackson Lake home and yard work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Boyd Carmichael; brothers, Stan Davis, Darryl Davis and Don Davis.

Survivors are her children, Ben and Susie Carmichael of Jackson, GA and Traci and Mark Carver of McDonough; grandchildren, Sally, Anna, and Emily Carmichael and Coby and Charlie Carver; sisters, Joy and Larry Austin of Locust Grove, Claire and Sammy Brown of Locust Grove and Cheryl and Alton Daniel of McDonough; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Bennie Carmichael will be Wednesday, August 12, 2009 – 1:00 PM at the Locust Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Currington and Rev. Bill Jackson officiating.
Interment will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8:00 PM.
