LEONARD M. POUNDS, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Pounds of Ranger, Tx, was born Sept. 9, 1911, and died Oct. 7, 1996. He married Daisy Woods, RHS graduate in 1937. He had a sister, Billie Faye Beskow, of Eastland, two brothers Adrian Pounds of Weatherford, Joe Bob Pounds of Alabama, at the time of his death. Another brother, W. G. Pounds, Jr. was deceased. He had three sons, L. H. Pounds of Plano, Billy Bob Pounds of Fort Stockton and Cecil Lewis Pounds (deceased); two daughters, Alyce Eileen Gooch of Big Lake and Patty Jo Callender; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

During WWII, Leonard served in the U.S. Navy in the Seabees, enlisting on March 7, 1942, and undergoing training at Camp Allen in Norfolk, Virginia, and Port Huenema in California before being sent to foreign duty in the South Pacific. He was awarded 1 Battle Star, AP, PL, American Defense and GCM. He was discharged in 1945. Before enlisting, he was employed by the T. and P. Coal and Oil Company.
