Mr. Conover was the eldest son of the late Peter P. and Sarah A. Conover of Keyport. He was born in Matawan.
Mr. Conover for a number of years was one the leading business men of Keyport and about 25 years with a compensation.
On October 3, 1876 he married Miss Annie Johnson of Keyport and of recent years they lived in a handsome home built by Mr. Conover at Hazlet.
His widow survives him, as well as two half brothers and a half sister.
The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at his late home, Rev. J. D. Crumley officiating, assisted by Revs. J. D. Coote and C. Rollins Smith of Keyport.
Interment was in Green Grove Cemetery.
