Mrs. Clarissa M. Whiteman died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Hill, of West Water street, Painted Post, R. D. 2, this morning at 8 o'clock, following an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Whiteman was born in Job's Corners, Pa., May 3, 1843, the daughter of William and Charity BIy. She was married twice, her first husband being Reese Mayhood, of Caledonia. Following his death she returned to Job's Corners where she was later married to William Whitetman, who died 25 years ago. For the past 30 years Mrs. Whiteman had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Hill, moving with her from Fresno to Painted Post 10 years ago. Although unassuming in manner, Mrs. Whiteman had a host of friends who esteemed her highly for her sweet disposition and her generous kindness. Always willing to do her share for others, Mrs. Whiteman gave generously of her time and strength to her own family and to neighbors and friends. During the World War she did all that was possible for a person of her age, knitting among other articles, 17 sweaters for the soldiers. Mrs. Whiteman is survived by three children, two daughters, Mrs. Charles Henderson, of EImira, and Mrs. Andrew Hill, at whose home she died; and one son, James Mayhood of Sagetown. The body will be removed to the home of her son Friday evening and the funeral will be held there Saturday afternoon at2 o'clock. Burial will be In Sagetown Cemetery (The Evening Leader, Corning, New York, Thursday, May 15, 1930).


The funeral of Mrs. Clarissa Whlteman, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Hill, Sr., of West Water street, Painted Post, was held from the home of her son, James Mayhood, of Sagetown, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Mr. Burris, of Pine City, officiated. Two vocal selections were given by a quartet composed of Justin Kimball, Earl Keeley and Arnold R. Thomas of Painted Post and Raymond Bates, of Corning. Interment was in Sagetown Cemetery with the following nephews of the deceased acting as bearers: Edward Henderson, of Rochester, Lewis Henderson, of Elmira, Earl Mayhood, of Sagetown, Charles Mayhood, of Endicott, Lee Kelly, of Painted Post and Harry Kelly, of Elmira (The Evening Leader, Corning, New York, Monday, May 19, 1930).
