* c1820 -- m1: Thomas Mitchell; two sons: John G. Mitchell (1821-1882) and James Robert Mitchell (1823-1922)
* c1850 -- m2: James Scarborough, a native of KY, in Perry Co., AL; two daughters: Sarah Ann Scarborough Cone and Catherine Nancy Scarborough Moore
* c1859 -- Migrated as a widow with her daughter Catherine N. and son-in-law Richard Lewis Moore to Milam County, TX, settling initially at Port Sullivan (ref: 1860 census); concurrently, daughter Sarah Ann S. Cone and family migrated to Milam Co., TX. Mary's adult sons by Mitchell remained in AL.
* 1872 -- Mary Elizabeth Scarborough was walking from her home to visit her grandson -- James A Cone; Cone met her en route and provided a horse for her to ride; and as she was going through a gate along the way, she was somehow dragged from the horse; She suffered a broken leg in the accident and never recovered. She was more than 60 years old and buried at Rice School Cemetery, Milam Co., TX.
