Baylee Bear Ladd was born on October 16, 2008 in Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida. My father had died on January 8, 1999 and my Mother died on April 25, 2008. I had retired earlier from the Pentagon and returned to Oklahoma to take care of both of them. Losing Pop left such a void and when my Mother died a few years later, I was totally alone and devastated. I didn't want to go anywhere and I didn't want to see anyone. Some months later, someone called to suggest that I should get a dog. I didn't think that was a helpful suggestion but within weeks I found myself looking at photos of little girl puppies on my computer. I had almost abandoned the whole idea when I saw a photo of the most precious little baby girl schnauzer. She was so cute and I kept staring at her photo, knowing that I wanted that little girl but also knowing that I didn't want to drive in bad weather which was forecast for the next few months.
