Mrs. Hortense Rankin Fernald committed suicide Tuesday or Wednesday by strangulation (suicidal drowning) after several years of mental derangement. The body was discover in the brook at the lower village Thursday by her father. She was 48 years of age. Besides her parents, she left a sister, Miss Beulah Rankin, a son and two daughter.
