H.S. Willms Killed When Hit by Auto

Henry S. Willms, 86, of 521 Wood avenue, was fatally injured yesterday morning when struck by an automobile driven by Robert Stuart, 16, of 900 South Fourth street. The accident occurred about 10:30 o'clock, near Fifth street and Black avenue as Willms was attempting to cross the street.

According to witnesses to the accident Willms stepped out of the way of a truck directly into the path of the Stuart car. Young Stuart, after hitting the aged man, picked him up and took him to Springfield hospital. Willms died en route to the hospital. His injuries consisted of numerous laccerations and bruises, a broken right leg, skull fracture and the left leg was practically severed, hospital attendents said.

The remains were removed to Bisch & Son funeral home, where the funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev. Herbert W. Hines officiating. Interment in Oak Ridge cemetery.

The victim is survived by two daughters, Helen O'Connor, San Bernardino, Cal., and Florence Willms at home; two sons, Ray and Harold, at home.
