A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late Roy and Lola Warren Wheeler and had lived most of his life in Guilford County.
He owned and operated Wheeler & Son Construction Co. and was a member of Brightwood Baptist Church.
Lacy was preceded in death by his son: Bobby Lee Wheeler, a daughter: Debra Wheeler, sisters: Mabel Watkins, and Louise Huff, and a brother: Larry Wheeler.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Mary Talley Wheeler of the home, a son: Lacy L. Wheeler, Jr. (Mary) of Greensboro, daughters: Sabrina Brewer (Brian Ellis) of Gibsonville, Cheryl Edmonds (Scott) of Reidsville, sisters; Janie W. Booker and Barbara Wheeler both of Reidsville, close granddaughter Tuesday Huskey (Jeremy) and four other grandchildren, Makayla, Noah and ten other great grandchildren, special caregivers: Carolyn Jacobs and the staff of Kindred Health Care Agency.
