Born February 23, 1926 in Dallas, Texas to George and Regina Rasmussen and passed away May 30, 2015 in Dallas, Texas.A member of “The Greatest Generation,” he enlisted in the Army Air Corps at the age of 18. He was a tailgunner on a B-25 during World War II in China and India. Shortly before the Japanese surrendered, he was injured, ending up in the field hospital at Kunming. Due to an uprising by the Chinese, this hospital was evacuated to the General Hospital in Calcutta. He spent about four months in the hospital with Malaria. Then he was reassigned to Singapore as a radio operator broadcasting the war crimes trials. George graduated from SMU in 1950. He worked many years as an auditor for the government and also worked as a CPA. George loved his family, his church, and his friends. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all. George’s family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. Services for George will take place at 3:00 pm on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
