Robert Fitters, Sr was the son of Mary Sarsfield and Edmund Pat Fitters. He married Gayola Blevins in Newport, Ky in 1936. They had a stillborn son, Robert Jr in 1937. Their baby is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Thomas, Ky. Robert and Gayola divorced and Robert joined the US Navy during WWII. While stationed in New Orleans, La,
he met Maude LeBlanc and they married having 12 children.
