His first wife was Mary Harrell in 1825
His second wife was Rebecca Dare in 1831
His third wife was sister to Rebecca. Jane Patterson Dare in 1841

James was a saddler in '1850 and a saddle and harness manufacturer in 1860. Evidence indicates that he had a son from his first marriage and possibly other children. There are multiple children on the 1830 census.
His son from that first marriage is James Harrell Warner. James Harrell moved from Ohio to Virginia and entered in the U. S. Navy as an engineer. He was married in Virginia in 1852 and later left the U. S. Navy and entered the C. S. Navy as an engineer. He was during the war the Chief Engineer at the Columbus, Georgia Naval Iron Works.
