Mary Sanford 1864-1947 (Memorial ID 44775835) married John H Robinson 1854-about 1915. (No Memorial ID)* This John H Roberson/Robinson is not to be confused with John Huske Roberson/Robinson of a different county & different line.

John H Robinson married Martha Stout in Wilkes County when he was young and had one son with her: Robert Millard Robinson. John H remained in Wilkes County, NC (Reddies Creek area) except for his time in Elijay, Georgia with this Mary Sanford & kids. You can find him living next to his father & mother with the new wife, Mary on the 1880 Elijay, Ga census. John H's father is keeping the first son in his house on that census.

The 1900 census finds the family back in Wilkes County, NC- Reddies Creek area without the first son whose line ends up in TX (DNA confirmation has been established). John H died before the 1920 census and left 5 boys while living in Wilkes County. The youngest 3 sons lived with Mary Sanford well into their adulthood, and Cole Younger lived with her until her death in 1947.

The name Mary Sanford appears as the mother on 4 of the sons' death certificates. Walter William (my great-grandfather) is remembered by family alive today and has Martha Stout typed on his death certificate as mother. I believe this to be inaccurate based on census data- he is not born until after John H's marriage to Mary Sanford and does not appear on any census data prior to 1900.

Walter William appears to have actively separated himself from his Wilkes County family, even changing his name spelling to Roberson -which the Iredell family line still uses.
