Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. James Everett Pendergrass, age 85 of Winchester. Mr. Pendergrass passed away October 24, 2019 at Elk River Health and Rehab in Winchester. He will be remembered as a very quiet, soft-spoken and caring man. He was a 1952 graduate of Manchester High School. Following high school Mr. Pendergrass enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was a jet engine mechanic and served at bases in San Antonio, TX, Lackland AFB, Goose Bay, Labrador and Chanute AFB in Illinois. Following his discharge he served in the USAF Reserve. As a civilian he worked at AEDC in Facilities Management, overseeing carpentry, construction and general maintenance of the facility. He was a gifted and skilled craftsman in woodworking and carpentry. He was a member of the Estill Springs United Methodist Church. Mr. Pendergrass is preceded in death by his mother, Velma Pittman Pendergrass and his father, Oscar Pendergrass; sister, Ann Brown; brothers, Raymond and Robert Pendergrass. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda Panter Pendergrass; son, Tim (Vicky) Pendergrass of Winchester; 2 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home on Sunday October 27, 2019 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. The funeral service will commence at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
