Rev. Ellgah H. Abernathy, 78, of North River Street, Centre, passed away May 16, 1988, in Chattooga County Hospital. He was a native of Cherokee County, a retired minister and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was a member of Sand Valley Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at Perry Chapel, Revs. Herbert Gwin and Paul Eaves officiating. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery in Summerville, Georgia, Perry Funeral Home directing.
Rev. Abernathy is survived by his wife Mrs. Lillian Shaw Abernathy; three brothers Guy Abernathy of Leesburg, Junior Abernathy of Carrollton, Georgia, Rex Abernathy of Rome; one sister Mrs. Hazel McCullom of Menlo, Georgia.
Rev. Abernathy was the son of the late Joe and Hattie Young Abernathy.
