Roy was born the seventh child of eight children to Nelson Hollis and Sarah Elizabeth Guffey Brown. Roy was a U.S Navy W. W. II veteran. He learned the radio repair trade with the Navy. Roy married Thelma Ellena Bryan on March 20, 1947. They raised three daughters. Roy retired from the Wilmington City Fire Department as a Captain in Wilmington Delaware. In addition to his daughters he had 6 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Gravesite Details
His son in law William Downs was buried on his site until Bill's remains were moved to his farm.
