Michael Joseph Abdoo, 81, an over 50-year Poughkeepsie resident, died Saturday at Eden Park Nursing Home.
He worked at Schatz Federal Bearings in Poughkeepsie until the late 1970s.
Mr. Abdoo served in the United States Army during World War II, receiving an Asiatic–Pacific Campaign Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, and a Good Conduct Medal.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where he belonged to the Holy Name Society.
Born Oct. 18, 1916, in Middletown, he was the son of Joseph and Lena Abdoo. He attended Middletown schools.
He married Nancy Eramo in 1950 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. She survives at home.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Abdoo; several nieces, nephews, and great-nephews; and a great-great-nephew.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 218 Mill St., Poughkeepsie.
Services are 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home followed at 9:30 by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. Entombment will be in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
