Harold Duane Bullock, 85, of Ward, formerly of Pine Bluff, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019. He was born May 24, 1934 in Humphrey to the late Hobert and Fannie Mae Whatley Bullock.
Harold enlisted in the U.S. Navy May 28, 1952 at Pine Bluff when he was 18. He was in boot camp from May - August 1952 at San Diego, California. He attended aviation machinist school September 1952 - March 1953, Norman, Oklahoma. Harold was stationed at N.A.A.S. Cabiniss Field, Corpus Christi, Texas March 1953 – March 1955. He was stationed at Naval Air Station, March 1955-October 1955, Miramar, California. He went aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Kearsarse October 1955 for the Far East, Hawaii, Japan, Philippines, and Hong Kong. He came back to the United States in May, 1956, and was released from active duty May 24, 1956 at age 22.
He stayed in California from 1956 until March, 1957 to work. He lived with his brother Glenn and his family He came back to Arkansas to find his soul mate and wife, Alta Ann Little Bullock, whom he married December 20, 1957 at Benton. He worked for International Paper for 34 years.
He was fully discharged May 24, 1960 after four years inactive duty from 1956-1960. His rank when he was released was 2nd Class Petty Officer.
He became a member of Broadmoor Missionary Baptist Church in August, 1965, and was ordained as a deacon in March, 1980. He also served as a Sunday School teacher, mission treasurer and handled the building and grounds.
He moved to Ward in March, 2018 and became a member of Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church in Butlerville.
Also preceding him in death were his son, Tony Bullock; daughter, Kelly Bullock; and brothers, Delbert Bullock, Glenn Bullock, Orville Bullock, and Hobert Bullock Jr.; and sister, Ruby Thorogood.
Harold is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alta Ann Little Bullock of Ward; two brothers, Marvin Bullock of Pine Bluff and Harvey Bullock of Mt. Home; two grandchildren, Jake (Lacey) Bullock of Cabot, Sarah (Chad) Myers of Cabot; and 5 great grandsons.
