Clara Jeanette (McGoveran) Whitney born May 17th 1935 passed from this life at the age of 84 on August 20, 2019 to be with her Lord. She rejoined her husband Alvin Edward and parents, George Arthur and Mae Hazel McGoveran as well as brothers, Kenneth, Cleo, Clarence and Maurice McGoveran.
She leaves behind 4 children, Aundrea Kim Whitney, Dwight Lynn and wife Cathy Whitney, Creston Lee and wife Donna Whitney, Beth Laneau Whitney all of Claremore as well as 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Although Clara was a homemaker most of her life she worked for a time at Walmart in Claremore, OMA as well as a 50 year member of Chambers Home Extension Club. She loved Cooking, canning, sewing, oil painting, and sharing knowledge with her grandchildren. She entered many items in the Rogers County fair which she took great pride in. She received many ribbons in her lifetime. Her favorite pastime was spending time with grandchildren
She will be greatly missed by many family and friends whose lives she has tremendously impacted.
Visitation will be Sunday August 25th 3-6pm at Rice Funeral Home in Claremore. Services will be held Monday August 26th 10am at Rice Funeral Home in Claremore.
