Louetta Pearl Wirey, 72, Oblong, died about 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 1996, at her residence.

Born May 19, 1923 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Clarence and Marie (Earnest) Moore.

She retired from General Telephone Company as an operator in Robinson. She was a member of Oblong Central United Methodist Church.

Feb. 15, 1947 she married William Wirey and he preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1979. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Clarence and Harry.

Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Debbie Valle, Hutsonville; William and Jennine Wirey, Crossville, Tennessee; Marlin Wirey, Robinson; Keith and Rita Wirey, Robinson; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Schlosser, Willow Hill; Mrs. Greg (Billie) Bowen, Robinson; and Perna Wirey, Palestine; a brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Norma Moore, Quincy; a sister, Mrs. Jim (Betty) Dart, Robinson; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 1:30 p.m. Sunday Jan. 14, at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, with Father Rick Weltin officiating. Burial is in Otterbein Cemetery, rural Birds. Friends may call from 5 - 7 p.m. Saturday.

OBLONG, Ill. - Louetta P. Wirey, 72, died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday at her home.

She was a retired operator for General Telephone Co. in Robinson.

She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and attended Thursday Night Legion Bingo.

Surviving are three daughters, Betty Schlosser of Willow Hill, Billie Bowen of Robinson and Perna Wirey of Palestine; five sons, Kenneth Valle of Hutsonville, William Wirey of Crossville, Tenn., and Marlin, Keith and Kirk Wirey, all of Robinson; a sister, Betty Dart of Robinson; a brother, Edgar Moore of Quincy; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, William, died in 1979.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Pulliam Funeral Home, with burial in Otterbein Cemetery near Birds.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
