Iona Haselbauer,a nurse, married William Rountree in 1921. As a young woman she was told by doctors to smoke in order to help her nerves. She died from emphysema. Iona had two children Oleta and Lincoln, she adored them both.

Iona was very artistic. She was always working on crafts, like making little chairs from aluminum cans, making small knick knacks out of sheets of copper and always lots of crocheting. She also loved to feed the birds and the squirrels. She collected stamps.

She always carried peppermint lifesavers.
