From Obit P-J 07/10/2007. Daughter of John Douglas and Lillian Mercier Douglas Cronk. Evelyn is survived by two sons, four granddaughters and a great-granddaughter. Preceded in death by her husband James W. Turney whom she married 07/11/1945 and who died 10/25/2003.

Evelyn A. Turney, 92, of 3614 Route 430, Bemus Point, died at 1:55 P.M. Sunday (July 8, 2007) in her home. She was born Sept. 26, 1914 in Manchester, Vt., the daughter of John Douglass and Lillian Mercier Douglass Cronk. A graduate of the former Mayville High School and Jamestown Business College, in earlier years she had worked in the offices of the Chautauqua County Clerk, the Department of Motor Vehicles, and in the Recording Office. She later worked with her late husband on the family farm. She was active with the Farm Bureau, and was a member of the Bemus Point Study Club. A strong-willed independent person, she loved to travel, and always made sure that her home was filled with laughter.

Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery.
