A. Leonard McLane, 89, of Manalapan passed away on November 4, 2019 at home surrounded by his family and angels, joining his parents, siblings, and numerous friends.

He was born in Rahway, raised in Menlo Park, and lived in Edison before settling in Manalapan in 1962. Following in his father’s footsteps, Leonard worked as a curator as a young man at the Edison Tower. He bravely served for the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class, E-3 during the Korean War. He worked for Argonaut Insurance Company and he retired as the claim’s supervisor for the Harleysville Insurance Company in Cranford, NJ.

Leonard was known as “Mr. Mac”. He was a founding parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, where he attended daily mass and participated in numerous community activities throughout the years. Above all else, he was truly selfless and was always giving to his family and friends, never expecting anything in return. His greatest achievement was witnessing his children and grandchildren following his moral and philanthropic beliefs. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Leonard was predeceased by his three sisters, Lorraine Tekin, Frances Stiff, and Anna Pall. He is survived by his adoring wife of 67 years, Florence McLane of Manalapan; children, Dru-Anne Palaima and her husband, Charles of Freehold, Susan Dodd and her husband, Carey of Freehold, Lori-Anne McLane of Manalapan, Timothy McLane and is wife, Linda of Jackson; grandchildren, Tara-Faith Palaima and her fiancé, Jason Campisi, Dylan Dodd, Nolan Dodd, Brian McLane and Patrick McLane; a great grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the St. Thomas More Church, 186 Gordons Corner Road, Manalapan Township 07726. Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown 08562.
