GREGORY MAXFIELD

(1949 • 2015)

APPLE VALLEY, MN — Age 66, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Born in Burlington, WI on October 8, 1949, he was the son of LeRoy and Roberta (nee Clark) Maxfield. He spent his early life in Burlington where he graduated from Burlington High School. He then attended the US Naval Academy, graduating in the class of 1971. He served as an active duty officer with the Navy from 1971 to 1979, serving on nuclear submarines.

On July 31, 1971 he was united in marriage to Christine E. Robers. Following marriage they made their home in Maryland, New York, Hawaii, Virginia, South Carolina and Guam while he was serving in the Navy. Following his active duty they made their home in Two Rivers, WI for 17 years before moving to Apple Valley, MN for the past 19 years.

Greg was most recently working as a Program Administrator for Gas Technology Institute, where he was employed since 2006. Significant work experience prior to that included over 17 years at Wisconsin Electric (WE Energies). He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, the US Naval Academy Alumni Association and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. He enjoyed camping and vacationing with family; supporting his children and grandchildren in their various activities; traveling across the United States to view Frank Lloyd Wright homes; drives with his son between Wisconsin and California as part of his son's college experience; competing against family members in various board and card games; as well as art, music and movies. He had a lifelong interest in aviation and automobiles; was a pet lover — especially to TC — his daughter's cat; was an avid Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Twins fan; and when younger engaged in various adventures and shenanigans with his older brother. Above all, he was a dedicated man who loved his family and his work.

He is survived by his wife, Chris; children, Teague (Michelle) Maxfield, Hilary (Andrew) Ince; grandchildren, Cadence, Keegan and Braden Maxfield; siblings, LeRoy (Juliette) Maxfield Jr., LuAnn (Richard) Bullyan and father-in-law, Richard Robers. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family asks that memorials go to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, the Wounded Warrior Project or the military/ veteran charity of your choice.

A special thanks to the caregivers from the ICU at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
