William J. Rasmussen, age 85, a Valders resident, died Sunday morning, October 28, 2018 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc with his family by his side.


He was born on April 13, 1933 in Perkins, Michigan, son of the late Ralph and Florence (Stevenson) Rasmussen. Bill was a graduate of Gladstone High School, Class of 1951. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy Seabees serving from 1952 until 1956 and was stationed in Alaska and the Philippines. On January 26, 1957 he married the former Virginia Tisler at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2012. Bill was employed as a surveyor for Fenner - Brey, Manitowoc, a construction worker with Ely Construction, Manitowoc, and retired in 1995 from Manitowoc Public Utilities as a water filtration operator. He loved spending time with his family around the kitchen table playing games and cards, cribbage and sheepshead being his favorite. Bill enjoyed dartball, bowling, fishing, hunting and yardwork. Bill was a lifetime member of the Eagles Club and a member of Whitetails Unlimited.


Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Linda & Michael Hackbart, Missouri, Kathie Doescher, Valders, Susan & Gregg Sielski, North Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren: Katie (Josh) Duncan, Matthew (Emily) Hackbart, Lauren (Ian) Earle, Rebekah Hackbart, Megan Doescher, Derek (Katie) Doescher, Seth Sielski, and Drew Sielski; five great grandchildren: Jed, Boone, Gunlock, Stephanie, and Elizabeth; a sister: Donna Zajda, Illinois; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Nancy Tisler, Crivitz, Robert & Karen Tisler, Manitowoc, James & Linda Tisler, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Nancy Rasmussen; a granddaughter: Stephanie Hackbart; a brother: Richard Rasmussen; and two brothers-in-law: Richard Zajda and William Tisler.


Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659. The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 until 2:45 p.m.
