STANLEY — Isabel Cloninger Hovis, 82, of 504 Blacksnake Road, died July 8, 2007, at her residence.
She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late Ralph Dewey Clonginger Sr. and Hazel Irene Thornburg Cloninger.
FUNERAL: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Alexis Baptist Church
INTERMENT: church cemetery
VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She retired from J.P. Stevens in Stanley and was a longtime member of Alexis Baptist Church, where she was a longtime former president of WMU and was a Sunday School teacher.
SURVIVORS: Husband of 64 years, Paul D. Hovis; son, Richard Hovis and wife, Linda of Stanley; two sisters, Louise Addington Davis of Dallas, Irene C. Crickmore of Dallas; two brothers, Franklin "Buck" Cloninger of Dallas, John Carroll Cloninger of Glasenburg, N.C.; sister-in-law, Trula Cloninger of Dallas; three grandchildren, Richard W. Hovis Jr. and wife, Nina, of Stanley, Kristina Wyatt and husband, Darrell of Dallas, Karen E. Reavis and husband, Derek of Cary; and seven great-grandchildren, Kristin Athens, Hillary Hovis, Brandon Wyatt, Haley Hovis, Philip Wyatt, Brandon Skidmore and Emily Patty.
