Catholic religious sister and daughter of 5 star Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. In 1947 she entered Dominican Convent Upper School in San Rafael during her junior year and 2 years later began studies at Stanford University graduating with a major in biological sciences. Shortly thereafter she entered the novitiate and became Sister M. Aquinas, made her first profession and went to UCLA Berkeley where she earned a Master's Degree in 1956. She taught for 3 years at the Dominican School before returning to Stanford for her Ph.D in biological sciences. In 1964 she began teaching biology at Dominican College and also served as academic dean from 1978-1989, interim president 19887-88 and vice president for institutional research from 1989-2002. She then retired. Following retirement she then led the college's emergency preparedness efforts and received a commendation from the Marin County Board of Supervisors for her work.
