Leslie Adams Dies
Famous Actor Was A Native Of Starke

Leslie Adams, prominent stage actor who was born in Starke died Thursday of last week in New York City where he was recently seen in the principal role in “A Room in Red and White,” on Broadway. He was forty-nine years old and is remembered by many of the older residents here although he left Starke at an early age.

He was reared in Savannah, Ga., and reached the top of his profession on Broadway after a long struggle in obscure theatrical companies throughout the country in repertory shows, burlesque, vaudeville, and showboats. When death came he had reached a position where motion picture companies were bidding for his services.

Four years ago Mr. Adams scored a pronounced success in his first big Broadway role “Goodbye Again” and forthwith took rank with the most sought after character leading men in theater. His greatest role was in the satirical musical revue, “As Thousands Cheer,” in which he shared featured billing with Marilyn Miller, Clifton Webb, and Helen Broderick.

He is survived by his widow, the former Gwendolyn Williams, and two sons. Charles and Robert.
