A Mass of Christian burial for Odelia Frei, 94, of Temple will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, September 26, 2011 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Temple with Rev. James Ekeocha, Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westphalia, Texas. Visitation and rosary will be Sunday at 7:00 pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple.
Odelia (Buckholt) Frei passed peacefully on September 23, 2011 at Weston Inn Health Center in Temple. She was 94 years young. She was born March 19, 1917 to Frank & Julia Buckholt in Westphalia, Texas. She attended schools in Westphalia. She married Robert Frei on May 22, 1945 in the Church of the Visitation, Westphalia. They lived in Temple, except for a tour of Army duty in Spartanburg, SC. She was a charter member of St. Luke Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by a twin sister Olevia, her parents, her husband, Robert in 1994; a brother Walter, and a sister Flora Herzog.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice and husband Bill Barkemeyer and grandson, Kevin of Temple. Three sisters; Juliana Olbrich of Temple, Lucy Halfmann of Burlington, Louise Lange of Austin; and a brother Al (Ollie) Buckholt and wife Lou of Westphalia. Memorials may be made to St. Luke Building Fund or Westphalia Historical Society.
