HOWARD THOMAS "TOM" DINTERMAN, JR., 67, of Marion Station and formerly of Frederick, Maryland, died Monday, July 16, 2007 at his home.

Born in Frederick on January 10, 1939, he was the son of Lena Virginia Masser Dinterman of Hagerstown and the late Howard Thomas "Buddy" Dinterman. He had been making his home in Marion Station since 1983.

He was a retired sergeant of the Maryland State Police, working 20 years in Rockville and 5 years in Salisbury. He also was a correctional officer at Eastern Correctional Institution in Westover, Maryland for 13 years, and was a sharpshooter in the US Army National Guard of Maryland 29th Infantry Division.

While with the Maryland State Police, he was a Defensive Driving Instructor, Firearms Instructor, Radar Instructor, Breathalyzer Instructor, TAC Team Sharpshooter, and Pistol Master. He was a Life Endowment Member of the National Rifle Association and a Life Member of the North American Hunting Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed woodworking, bicycling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly V. "Pat" Hiltner Dinterman of Marion Station; his mother, Lena Masser Dinterman of Hagerstown; four sons and daughters-in-law, Howard Thomas "Tom" and Colleen Dinterman of Ocean Pines, Maryland, Robert Wayne "Bob" and Jackie Dinterman of Walkersville, Maryland, David Michael and Tina Dinterman of Crisfield, Maryland, and Donald Lee "Donnie" and Kandy Dinterman of Marion Station; seven grandchildren, Tony Dinterman and Megan Dinterman of Marion Station, Jennifer Dinterman of Delmar, Delaware, Jessica Etzler and Allen Etzler of Walkersville, and Cody Harris and Ashley Dinterman of Crisfield; three sisters, Belva Ann "Susie" Leach and her husband Thomas of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Geneview "Pee-Wee" Stull of Mountaindale, Maryland and Lynnie Pineda and her husband Luciano of Brunswick, Maryland; a sister-in-law, JoAnne Kramer of Thomasville, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, Robert T. Hiltner and his wife Karen of Middletown, Maryland; a family friend, Lucille Marquiss of Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-9 and one hour prior to the service. The Rev. David Parke will officiate. Interment with honors provided by the Maryland State Police and the US Army National Guard Honor Guard of Maryland will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
