BOB DALE EDGE
June 28, 1937 ~ November 16, 2019

Bob Dale Edge was born on June 28, 1937 in Soper, Oklahoma to Dee and Ollie Edge. Bob went to his Heavenly home on November 16, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Savola “Chockie” Edge; his parents, Dee and Ollie Edge; brother, Dallas Edge; sister, Jeanetta Hull; and great-grandson Lonnie Dale Alvarez.

Bob graduated from Soper High School in 1955. He married Chockie on November 3, 1956. Bob and Chockie moved to Farmington, New Mexico in 1957 where he went to work at Foutz and Bursum Contractors for a short period of time before going to work at El Paso Natural Gas in Bloomfield, New Mexico.

During this time, he also worked nights at KHAP country radio as a disc jockey in Aztec, New Mexico.

In 1971, Bob and Chockie moved home to Soper where they went into partnership with his sister-in-law and her husband opening the B & E Grocery. After a short period of time, Bob decided the grocery business wasn’t for him. Bob and Chockie sold their share of B & E grocery to J. R. and Eulala Blankenship and Bob went back to college at Southeastern Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a degree in Education. During this time, he also worked at Pinkerton Agency where he earned the rank of Sergeant.

Upon graduating SOSU, he taught 3rd grade at Bennington School for 5 years before accepting a position at Soper School to teach Special Education. After teaching several years at Soper School, Bob received his master’s degree and was named the Soper Elementary Principal, a title he would hold until his retirement.

Bob was a member of the Soper Church of Christ, the Soper Masonic Lodge, and was a volunteer firefighter. Bob was loved by many, especially his grandkids who gave him the endearing names of Grandad, Bob Honey, and GranBob.

Left behind to mourn and recall the wonderful memories are: daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Terry Jackman of Wright City, OK; daughter, Eulala “Henri” Edge of Soper, OK;

Granddaughter Kari Kyle and husband, Michael Kyle of Wright City; granddaughter Amy Yarbrough of Wright City, OK; great-grandchildren, Keeli Tsosie, Davin Anna, and Kaleb Kyle all of Wright City;

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Soper Public School.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, November 20, 2019, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at the Mt. Olive Funeral Home Chapel, Hugo, OK.
