Emmett Loring Aleshire, 72, passed peacefully at 12:45am, Sunday, November 24, 2019, at his home surrounded by family.

Emmett was born January 20, 1947 in Front Royal, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett L. and Willie Louise Gilliam Aleshire.

Emmett is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lynda Hawkins Aleshire; daughters Cynthia Aleshire Green (Lee) of High Point, NC and Laura Mowry of Gibsonville, NC, sister Cynthia Louise Bell ( JR) of Richmond, VA, and grandchildren; Caitlyn Mowry of Sunnyvale, CA, Megan Mowry of Chapel Hill, NC, Sarah and David Green of High Point, NC.

After graduating from John S. Mosby Academy High in Front Royal, Virginia, Class of 1965. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in History and Masters of Arts in Education from Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Emmett began his teaching and coaching career at Randolph Macon Military Academy in Front Royal, Virginia. He also taught and coached in Prince William and Stafford County, Virginia. In 1986, Emmett began his career as a school administrator at North Stafford High, Stafford, Virginia.

In 1993 he moved to North Carolina and continued his career at Graham High School where he coached, taught and became an assistant principal in 1994. Emmett completed his career at Western Middle school, retiring from Alamance Burlington Schools.

Emmett was a member of Life Journey United Church of Christ. He enjoyed all sports, but especially, cheering on his beloved Hokies. He loved working in the yard, coaching, the beach, and spending time with his family.

A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 5:00 pm at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home, Burlington, NC. The family will receive friends before the service at 4:00 pm.
