It is with great sadness the daughters of Margaret Lorraine (Thompson) Hoben announce her passing on November 26, 2019 at Hospice House.

Born in Fredericton January 27, 1934 to parents Albert and Vivian (Chase) Thompson. Margie married her beloved husband, Sterling Hoben, November 13, 1954. She was a lifelong resident of Fredericton and a faithful member of Smythe Street Church.

Margie will be forever cherished and remembered by daughters Janice (Bill) Martin, Halifax and Nancy (Claude) Brewer, Fredericton. She dearly loved and was very proud of her grandchildren Andrew (Becky) Martin, Halifax, Sarah (Thomas) Handley, Halifax and Alexander Brewer, Fredericton. Great grandson Forrest Sterling Martin, Halifax completed her wonderful circle of family. Also survived by loving sister Dawna (Wayne) O’Hara, Fredericton, sister-in-law Helen Guislain, Minto as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husband Sterl Hoben of 57 years and siblings Gerald and Jack Thompson, Pat Grieve and Isabel Bunker.

Margie was a wonderful mother, loving grandmother and faithful praying lady, known for her quiet manner, kind spirit and love for children. She was involved in her church leading Children’s Church, teaching Sunday School and being church pianist for several years. In later years she was a member of Thimbles, Stitches & More and Thursday Morning Ladies Prayer Group. For over 40 years a member of TOPS Club, Inc. holding various positions.

The family wishes to thank Paradise Villa, Hospice House and the medical team who provided care for Mom over the past several weeks.

Visitation will take place at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton on Thursday, November 28th, 2019 from 3 – 8 pm. A memorial service celebrating Margaret’s life will be held on Friday, November 29th, at 2:00pm at Smythe Street Church with Rev. Verner Drost officiating followed by a reception. Interment will take place at the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension, Woodstock Road at a later date.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of your choice.

Mom, Nana, Marg was the matriarch of our family and will be greatly missed.
