She was born June 25, 1930 in San Pedro.
In 1936, Betty moved to Palm Springs with her parents, Everett and Annabel Lilley. They owned and operated the Union Ice
Company in downtown Palm Springs. She often spoke of her early days being a playmate with such stars as Shirley Temple.
She loved the outdoors and was an avid sports enthusiast. In high school, she excelled in sports and was captain of their field hockey team. Also, because of her good grades, she represented Palm Springs High School at girl's state in
Sacramento.
After graduation from the then new Palm Springs High School, she married Phil Griffith and together with her husband, opened and ran Albright's Air Conditioning in Cathedral City. They had one son, Mike, who was an accomplished golfer and became a teaching professional in the desert.
More recently, she and her husband, Phil, enjoyed fishing, exploring, antiquing and many car shows, winning many trophies.
Survivors include her husband Phil; a brother, Jeff Lilley of La Quinta; a sister-in-law; five stepchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her son Mike Albright preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006 at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City.
