His parents were John Anderson (A Boston dry goods salesman from Scotland) and Ellen Augusta Pratt. Robert was a clerk and store manager of Cutler Brothers & Co. (later called Eastern Drug Co.) in Boston. He married Elsa Rebecca Williamson (daughter of George Norman Williamson Sr. and Margaretha Heink) on April 8, 1901 at St. Andrew's Protestant Episcopal Church in New York City, New York. Dr. George R. Van De Water was the officiant. Robert's groomsman was Phineas Camp Headley Jr. of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Robert died on August 10, 1945 at his home in Newton Center, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
