Mrs. Brewer was born June 3, 1845, in Nicholas county, Ky., the daughter of A.M. and Emily Norton Sims. When a child she came with her parents to Illinois, and until her marriage made her home in Chatham. Mr. Sims was a pioneer business man and banker of central Illinois, and was at one time vice-president of the State National bank of this city. Mrs. Brewer was the widow of the late William M. Brewer, also prominently identified with business and religious work in Springfield. For many years she was a member of the Second Presbyterian church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Brewer Wells, wife of Guy Wells, of Minot, N.D. and one grandson, Guy Wells, Jr. Funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday from the residence, Rev. George T. Gunter, officiating. Burial in Oak Ridge cemetery.
