Elizabeth was likely born and was raised at her parents' home on a small farm, in the area known as Zicafoose Hollow, near the town of Asbury. She married Warren G. "Billy" Cummings August 15, 1924, and they became the parents of Elizabeth Belle "Betty" and Frances Jean. Early in their marriage he was an aircraft mechanic at Ft. Eustis, VA, and she was an "Army wife." They next returned to Zicafoose Hollow. Billy left for the Charleston, WV, area about 1929. The 1930 Census showed him to be age 27, boarding with the Boggess family, and proprietor of an auto repair shop in the Cabin Creek District of Kanawha County, WV. He died in 1932 or 1933.
