Leonard A. Andrucci
Leonard A. Andrucci, 88, passed away at his home in Menlo Park, California, where he enjoyed the California sun and lifestyle for the last seven years. Born in Bethlehem, PA to the late John and Rose Andrucci, he was the husband of the late Helen Svetec Andrucci, and was preceded in death by his two sisters, Madaline Iampietro and Philomena Brosky. He was a graduate and participant in varsity basketball and baseball at Liberty High School. After proudly serving in the Army during World War II, where he was a surveyor in Panama and Central America, he received a BS and MS from the University of Pennsylvania. He began his teaching career as a drafting teacher with the Bethlehem School district in 1946 and was the Assistant Director of the Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech High School from 1964 until his retirement in 1981. His long standing Bethlehem civic participation includes stints as Chairman of the Redevelopment Authority and of the Act 94 Authority. He also served on the South Side 76 Committee, the BEDC City Committee, the Bethlehem Recreation Committee, and Bethlehem Southeast Neighborhood Committee. He was Vice President from 1990 to 1992 and President of 1992 to 1994 of the Bethlehem Area Retired Teachers, and was elected as a Director to the Bethlehem School District in 1986. He was a volunteer of numerous organizations, such as the Bethlehem Boys Club, and was named UNICO Man of the Year. One of his loves was using his drafting and building design skills to lend in the design of numerous landmarks and buildings in the Bethlehem area, such as the 8th Avenue Band Shell, the Meadows in Hellertown, the Bethlehem Police Club in Saucon and the Bethlehem Teachers Credit Union. He and his wife were members of Our Lady of Pompeii Church, where he tirelessly volunteered his time. Services: Services were at St. Raymondv Catholic Church in Menlo Park, CA. He was buried at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Menlo Park, CA, and will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
