Curtis W. Austin Sr.
Curtis Wilmer Austin Sr., W, of 904 Cneida St., died Monday morning at his home of a stroke.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Payne Memorial AME Church with burial in the veterans section of Garden of Memories Cemetery. Masonic rites will be conducted by St. John's Lodge 35 and military rites by Becker Chapman Post 138 of the American Legion, both at the Temple of Memories at the cemetery.
He was born March 6, 1926, in New Orleans, La., son of Edmond I. and Bertha Alfred Austin.
He married Marlys L. Brown March 11, 1950, in Waterloo.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He worked at Construction Machinery Co. for 27 years. He also worked with the Community Enabler's Office as assistant director.
Survivors include hiw wife; his mother of Ben Harbor, two daughters, Pamela Shane-DUler of Kansas City, Mo., and Madonna Austin of Waterloo; four sons, Curtis W. II of Waterloo, Darwin L. of Houston, Tex- as, Loren L. of Milwaukee, Wis., and Clint A. with the U.S. Navy in LeMore, Calif.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Edmund of Waterloo and Earl of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Ruffins of Waterloo and Mrs. Alvira Booker of Ben Harbor, Mich.
Friends may call at Chapel East Mortuary from noon to 9 p.m. Wednes- day and at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time.
