Maria Franklin, the wife of DeWitt Clinton(1769-1828), was a daughter of Walter Franklin, of New York. Through her mother, Mary Bowne (may be Browne) of Flushing, she was a direct descendant of Adam Winthrop, founder of the Winthrop family.
