Doris was born in Des Moines, IA on September 14, 1932. She was the firstborn child of John and Opal (Knight) Bulman. Raised on the east side of Des Moines, she was a proud graduate of Des Moines East High School's Class of 1950. Not long after graduation she was introduced to and married her husband, Carl. The marriage only lasted 57 years due to Carl's death in 2009, but in Doris's heart, soul and mind, the marriage very much continued on. They raised 3 children together.
Doris loved many things, but first and foremost was the love and pride she had for her family, friends and neighbors. No visit was long enough, but so very appreciated. She also loved her home of 60 years, nearly restoring the acre to how the property looked when first purchased.
Doris is survived by two sons, Carl "Shorty" (Stephanie) Brown and Tim (Linda) Brown of Des Moines; and daughter, April (Pat) Hurley of Pleasant Hill; six grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Darlene Hendricks. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Donald Bulman and Roy Bulman; and sisters Deloris Connett and Carolyn Kampas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital For Children.
