PORTAGE - George P. Walker, age 87, of Portage, died on Saturday,
June 6, 1998, at Divine Savior. Hospital in Portage. George Peter
Walker was born on May 14, 1911 in Portage, Wisconsin, to the late
John and Emma (Long) Walker. Having never married, George
worked several places through out his life. His last job was a security guard at the canning factory in Poynette, until he retired in the mid 1990's. Survivors include four nephews, Stanley (Doris) Allen of Madison, John (Lois) Allen of Portage, Paul (Mary) Brucher of Downers Grove, Illinois and Tom (Carol)Brucher of Sacramento, California; nine nieces, Lillian Clifford of Madison, Maude (Edward) Leslie of Madison, Evelyn Winkler of St.Paul, Minnesota, Marie (Seymour)Wintrone of Marshfield, Dorothy(Vincent) Milton of Madison, Betty Meier of Oakland , New jersey, Ruth Ann (William) Cunningham of
Collingswood, New Jersey, Edna(Leonard Klopf of Madison and
Nettie (John) McGowan of Portage and several other relatives. Mr.
Walker was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and three
brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June
9, 1998 from PORT-AXTELL COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME in
Portage. Reverend Lloyd MaKool will officiate. Burial will be at
Welsh Cemetery in Caledonia Township, Columbia County, Wisconsin.

until the time of funeral services.
