Helen Louise (Magers) Miller, was born in Devizes, Kansas on May 26, 1927. She passed away in Auburn Washington on November 21, 2019.

Helen lived her early childhood in Kansas with her parents Archie Albert Magers and Beulah Marline (Hunt) Magers and her sister Grace. They drove to Puyallup, Washington from Kansas in a crowded car in November 1934. Where they lived with her Uncle Vernon and Aunt Leota. In December of 1939, they moved to Vashon Island. After graduating high school Helen attended business school in Seattle. She was living in a woman's boarding house in Seattle when at a dance on July 9, 1948, held by the Army she met her husband Leroy “Roy” Oliver Miller for the first time.
In September of the same year they met, Helen traveled with her parents to visit family in Kansas. During this vacation, Helen sent Roy his very first Birthday Card which would be treasured by Roy for the rest of his life. During this period Roy missed her extremely, and realized he couldn’t wait to marry her and proposed immediately after she returned. They were married on December 18, 1948.
Roy was stationed at Ft Lawton in Seattle where they lived until he was assigned to Greenland. While he was in Greenland Helen lived with her parents on Vashon Island. Helen had her 1st daughter Marline Sue on November 27, 1952. She gave birth to her at Ft. Lawton. It was just late enough for her parents to miss the last ferry back to Vashon. Helen had her second daughter Kathryn “Kathy” Louise on July 21, 1956.
Christmas and Easter were normally spent on Vashon Island with Helen's parents. Her sister’s family Grace, Jerry, Sharon, and Mike was also normally there.
In 1967 her Father retired and her parents moved back to Puyallup. They lived half a block from the fairgrounds just by the big roller coaster. Helen and Roy often helped park cars during fair time.
During summers they often visited Roy’s brother Elmer H in Spokane. Elmer H had 5 children Caroline Sue, Charles, Elmer Reese, Robert “Bob” Lee, and Hope Anne. When Marline was in high school and Kathy in Jr high Elmer H passed away, both Elmer R and Bob took Roy as a father figure. They both later moved to the Seattle area first living with Helen and Roy. Roy and Helen would assume the responsibilities as head of the family. Which included Elmer R and his three sons Michael, Alan and Jason, Bob and his three sons James, Andy, and Derrick. The six great-nephews all consider Helen and Roy their surrogate grandparents.
Helen worked as secretary/bookkeeper for most of the early to middle years of their marriage. In 1977 Her first grandchild Angelica “Angel” Sue was born. In 1980 Marline gave birth to her 2nd grandchild Peter Charles. Her last job was at Boeing Aerospace. During retirement, Helen and Roy took a cross-country tour in an RV lasting 2-3 months. They also traveled to Australia, England, France, Ireland, and Hawaii. They also took two cruises with Roy’s Brother Jim and his wife Sarah, one though the Panama Canal and one to Alaska. During retirement in 1995, Kathy gave birth to their third Grandchild Landis Lee. Shortly after Helen’s Granddaughter, Angel gave birth to their Great Granddaughter Kimberly Sue in 1997. Late in their retirement, Helen and Roy sold their home to move to Parkside Retirement East Independent Living in Auburn. After couple of years they would need to move across the street to Parkside Retirement Assisted Living. Helen was living at Parkside Assisted Living when Roy passed away on January 27, 2019. She was taken to a hospital several times in April 2019. She was moved to Auburn Rehab in May 2019 which was her final resting place.
Helen in life was a kind and generous woman who was beloved by many. Helen would always do her best to assist her friends and family in times of need and would barely ever ask for anything in return. She was a wonderful woman that we were all blessed with knowing. We can all take comfort in knowing that she is now with her husband Roy in God’s Kingdom. While we may miss her now we know that we will see both Helen and Roy again in Heaven.
