The son of Edward Agurs and Nancy Johnson, He was born on June 14, 1952 in New York City.
Barryl was talkative and helpful…he would help you if he could. He loved jazz music, and was a fashionable dresser who loved to travel, entertain and was always anxious to attend family events. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he cherished every minute he spent with them.
He was involved in many community organizations; National Organization of Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Disabled American Veterans (DAV) The Vet Center, Town of Wallkill Human Rights Commission and The Middletown Pistol and Rifle Association.
Barryl worked for The New York City Housing Authority and New York State Corrections. He was also a Licensed Real Estate Broker, and A Private Investigator.
He is survived by his loving wife; Violet Agurs, His step-children; Jeffrey Cain, Paul Cain and Darrell Cain, his siblings; James Davis, Edward Agurs, Barbara Agurs, Anthony Agurs and Jaqueline Agurs, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, His In-Laws; Lila Pender, Brenda Smith, Marilyn Hyde, Cynthia Foulks, Gregory Foulks, Darren Agurs and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is pre-deceased by his parents.
Visitation will take place on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, New York from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M., with a Service of Remembrance to be Celebrated at 11:30, with Elder Jeffrey Cain officiating. Burial will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Rd, Goshen, NY.
