Daughter Of Benjamin & Edna (unknown) Wisehart~
Mother Of Irvin Elias Smith~Mabel Ilene Pears~George Benjamin Smith~Martin Francis Smith~
Grandmother Of William Jennings~
Married Martin Ralph Smith~
April 5, 1921~In Phillipsburg, Kansas~
They had 11 children~Irvin, Delpha, Archie, Gyle, Ethel, George, Mabel, Ronald, Vanetta, Vera & Martin~
For some reason, she LOVED to bake cookies in THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! She chewed gum CONSTANTLY! & she could crochet as fast as she chewed her gum! (which was FAST!)
I think she was hyperactive!!!!! & I missed her so much when my Grandma told me she could no longer make her trips around to see everyone anymore~
Her Pride & Joy was her 1956 Chevy which she drove til she was 80 something. She finally wrecked it. Due to failing eyesight.
When she had to enter a nursing home, she took care of the little lady she shared a room with, pushing her around in her wheelchair everywhere the 2 decided to go!
People in her community said, She could shuck corn & saw wood faster than the best of them! After her children were grown she cooked at the Bissell Hotel Coffee Shop, The Rocket Grill & the Ranchhouse Cafe all located in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Her Peanut Butter Meringue Pie was everyone's favorite~ My Great Grandpa used to say there were two pies he liked best she made~Warm ones & cold ones!
Mary Smith is a very common name~but, my Great Grandma Smith was NOT a common woman!
